"Rag-Tag Group of Rebels"

5th Jun 2016, 11:15 PM

Vader999

These Resistance fighters, as I've already mentioned, are anything BUT a rag-tag group of miscreants and rebels. More like a well-armed assault force with armored troops and assault droids laughing their asses off at the notion that the planet is occupied by the Empire.

Remember how the Clone Wars was this big war between armored clone stormtroopers and droids? The Balmorrans have both stormtrooper-lookalike assault troops and droids that make most Clone Wars droids look like amateur recruits. Not to mention they have large war droids milling about the front of their large bases the size of Optimus Prime. As I said before, we can't call it a real occupation when the other side fields robots the size of Gundams while remaining unmolested.

Not to mention the fact that even Jedi roam around, so I'm sure Salih won't have any shortage of proof to bring to Darth Lachris about Republic involvement. The "Resistance" in Episode VII consisted of 30 assault fighters and a bunch of rag-tag fighters with guns. The Balmorra resistance consists of large groups of armored troops, Jedi, battle droids, and huge war droids the size of Gundams openly milling about in front of their giant war factory that serves as their fortress. This isn't a resistance, it's a bloody army labeled as a resistance movement.

The Resistance

Don't hate us just because we're good at it. Some Resistances are just better than others!

In that case it's no longer a resistance. It's a full-on army. Resistance implies guerrilla tactics. These guys are openly defying imperial law while milling about in front of their war factories with robots the size of Optimus Prime.

Sinapus

"THERE'S A GUNDAM DOWN HERE!!!"

Though I'm old enough to remember the original Gundam series and not just Gundam Wing. ;-)

Grammar Man

I think you mean they were subjugated. In fact, they were subjected to subjugation. Fortunately, they opposed it.
I’m sorry. I suffer from a psychological compulsion to correct grammar, and I’m off my meds. :)

So does that mean that the Balmorrans are no longer the Emperor's subjects...?

Vader999

I don't think they were the Emperor's subjects to begin with.

George Lucas

Obviously both the Rebels and the Empire had a lot more ships than were actually shown, but let's see you try to depict an armada of 20,000 ships using late 1970's special effects technology! On a budget! They're lucky I even gave them as many ships as I did! (Besides, we had to save money earlier on in order to be able to afford to make all those Ewok costumes)

Imperial Forces would certainly have crushed that rebellion by now...they just didn't have time yet to get around to it...in as much as they were ... otherwise occupied.

(and that's where the name came from) :P
