Honestly, who doesn't laugh manically while taking part in an orbital strike.

Also, kudos to the people who accurately guessed what quest this on the previous page.

That was honestly one of my favorite quests on Imp!Balmorra.

If you don't mind my asking, how did Mendy and Vette manage to do it by themselves?

[evil grin] - Remember that for the bonus on Firestar, the guys outside the instance count towards your total.

Other than that - any sneak class can get inside, stun the elite commander and get the codes.

Juggernauts, powertechs & snipers can usually mow the opponents down [especially now, with any companion able to be set on heals --> or earlier, with Treek].

... Mercs can usually hold their own ... and marauders get killed a lot and rely on force camouflage to get by most of the intervening groups. As a mara I am VERY good at selective sneaking.

I was asking given that this comic is set back in the days when Firestar was a Heroic 4 and Vette was a DPS companion.

It was actually possible to solo, even then -- just tedious and challenging. (At least for me.)

Since there is no kill requirement, you just needed to get to the console, which meant clearing away about two groups and being very careful to stick close to the walls and avoid all the rest. For those two groups, you could 'whittle' them with a tank by popping defenses, focusing all your damage on one enemy, killing it, then running out of the instance to break aggro. (Always let your companion take the first shot, since they are expendable. ^_^) After you re-enter the instance, the dead bad guy has not yet respawned. And, of course, as the group gets smaller, taking out the next one gets that much easier. Repeat quickly enough and you take out the whole group -- after which that group will not respawn.

Once the path is cleared, you send your companion on a suicidal attack against the final elite commander and ignore them while clicking on the glowie and getting the codes -- after which you run like hell. ^_^

Other, more uber, players may well have been able to solo it with much better tactics -- but that was how I managed it.

Being Mendiloquence severely limits your tactical options

23rd Jan 2017, 12:53 PM

Darth Annie

Of course, that explains how *someone* could have accomplished it, but it still doesn't explain how *Mendy* could have accomplished it. Your tactics require actual thinking to be done, which is not really Mendy's strong point. Nor planning. Nor self-restraint. Nor avoiding fights. Though I can see "throw my companion to the wolves so I can get away" as being a tactic he might come up with. :p

True, but Mendiloquence has the Force on his side. ^_^

Besides ... there's no indication that he soloed this ... only that no others of his party are presently around to share his moment of triumph. ^_^

If a few of his companions fell by the wayside along the path to his eventual triumph ... at least their bodies shall lend their fuel to the triumphant monument to his glory he shall sculpt with light from the heavens.

OK, that makes sense.

Somehow I suspect that Mendy & Vette are very frequently the only members of Mendy's parties to be left after his missions. How Vette manages it I have no idea. ...unless (gasp!) maybe possibly perhaps Mendy actually cares whether or not she says alive?! :o

There is no point to doing anything awesome unless there is someone around to witness it as far as Mendiloquence is concerned.

I think we can consider the word "awesome" in that sentence superfluous ... just ask Vette. Or Lady Grathan. ^_^

Well none of the heroics are really that hard any more. So while this was a 4 man heroic at one point of time 4 people are not really necessary to complete these quests any more.

That said back in the day I used to love to solo heroics with my tanking toons by tank kiting mobs. Basically you maintain agro while moving in and out of line of sight and your dps companion does all the work for you.
This is hard to do with multiple mobs but you can still manage if you are smart about managing your companion.

Awww the memories...

I remember soloing heroics by waiting until I was absurdly over-levelled, and then aggroing every mob in the instance...
Mind you it was a lot of fun to be basically invincible whilst mowing down scores of enemies.

Hey there! I've actually been reading this comic for a while now and am really enjoying it! Though, this is probably one of my favorite panels so far. Keep up the good work!
And seeing how Mendy has been treating Vette and Quinn really has me wondering how he'll see Jaesa...

Way back when when I was knee high to a bormu I worked a long time for my Mara to solo this. And then, as she got bigger. (before level sync) she went back and did a total Anakin in there. Payback makes me smile

BTW I love orbital strike just for the effects. I would usually kill off the mob I targeted before the final blast hit,and it did make me laugh every time.

I so appreciate your work/art- thank you.

Thanks, Ilayas, for another brilliant panel! I was actually wondering what would happen when Operation: Firestar rolled around. In other news, you have inspired me to create my own Chiss Imperial Agent. So thanks for that.

I was also wondering what you thought of the new expansions, Knights of the Fallen Empire and Knights of the Eternal Throne. I know that you probably won't be doing a comic about them anytime soon, but do you think they were well done? I'll understand if you don't want to post any spoilers; I just wanted your opinion as an expert of all things SWTOR.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks I'm glad you have been enjoying my comic and that I inspired you to roll an agent! The game needs more agents and more Chiss. (there are never enough Chiss)

I'm going to be honest with you, the last few months I have kind of taken a break from SWTOR. My raid group/guild fell apart due to a lack of new raiding content and I just wanted a break. My real life got kind of busy. I had a lot comics I wasn't able to finish coloring happening around that time as well. I have played through most of KoTFE but I haven't touched the Eternal Throne stuff.

I like the story. I like a lot of the new characters. I like that they are bringing back the old characters though I feel some are done better than others.

I dislike the lack of new operations. I'm a raider at heart I love raiding and hanging out with raiders. I understand we are getting some new ops here in the future but I wonder if it might be too little too late.

I wish that story and operations didn't feel like an either or sort of thing. I like them both, I would like to have both, if possible. That said I do still enjoy this game. I don't hang out on SWTOR Reddit any more because the people there seem to enjoy complaining about the game more than actually playing it.

I am trying to get back into the game I'm working on lving up my second bounty hunter and I think I will take her through all the new content. While I like the story I feel like I need to play through the new stuff with a character I don't care about first so I know how to make all the right choices (i.e. the choices I want) with the characters I do care about. That's kind of stressful, as I don't want any of my precious babies (i.e. companion characters) to die.

Sept for Skage. Fuck that guy.

I will never do a republic version (though I highly encourage anyone else to) but if I did I would probably do the Jedi Consular. That class story piratically writes it's self.

(Shudders). THAT story - the 'let me hurt myself repeatedly, frequently to help unappreciative jerks' ... followed by 'and then let me be the errand runner for a group of politicians who are the WORST' ... in a storyline that shows Jedi to be really dim at the best to actively stupid?

... can you tell that (IMO) the counselor story is my least favorite of the 8?
